Congratulations to @2salazar and @tpwills for winning the right to keep their Divine mural in Mt Vernon. They also now have a shoe rack and end table. #maketrouble
Padauk/walnut collab with a friend on a top for an end table
@lecomptoirduvin — in the making. A place with a story to be told—in the language of food and drink and light, of worlds traveled, of endless days and nights on the line, all distilled here, as it unfolds before us, in novella form. What a voyage to undertake. Already one can feel the soul, the restraint. It’s gonna be great.
Yakisugi (焼杉) or shō sugi ban (焼杉板). A new process to me, shared by a friend (Thanks Andy, and @lanesomedove). Amazing to see the wood transform with this ancient Japanese technique. For wine bottle display shelving, with custom steel bracketing.
For a special new spot, with some special people. Looking forward to seeing it filled up with some special stuff. 🔮🍷🥂... [Special thanks to @zackgenin. Couldn’t have done it without you.]

Breaking in a new tracksaw. 📷 cred: my mom
Slowly getting everything off the floor in this new shop. It’s been a challenge to sift through the piles trying to find a level, measuring tape, or the right driver bit in the chaos of the move. I’ve never been more aware of how a shop is an extension of the body; when you reach for something and it isn’t in it’s place it can be a disorienting experience. Been super lucky to have friends and family descend from the ether at just the right moment to help me get this place going (thanks Graham, Justin).
Chipping away at this deck stair rebuild. The Japanese maple is decidedly not to code and everyone seems to like it that way. Perhaps karmically pardoned for all the pressure treated lumber used in the stairs.
