The Story of Half Hammer

My great grandfather, the son of Irish immigrants, was a coal-miner turned construction foreman. According to family legend, he saw one of his framers tapping in a nail with his hand choked all the way up on the hammer. He asked to borrow the hammer and returned it with the handle cut short, letting the framer know that since he wasn’t using the rest of the hammer, he wouldn’t need it anymore.

The work of Half Hammer is simple and solid, a place where form and function come together to show the innate character (and even flaws) of the material. We collaborate closely with home-owners, restaurateurs, artists, and business-owners to meet the particular needs of each space.

We look forward to hearing your dreams and helping bring them to life.
